Growth Highlight: Successfully Admitted to a Doctoral Programme

As an explorer of industry-education integration and a learner of leadership education, I have always upheld the belief: “Do not let your talents remain hidden in a land of mediocrity.” I aspire to become a leading figure in the field of education and academic progression consultancy in China. To realise my ambition of continuously promoting educational innovation and management, I chose to pursue the Master of Arts in Chinese Values-Based Leadership Education. The programme not only offered strong alignment with my research interests, guided by a Programme Director whose expertise closely matched my own direction, but also brought together educators and frontline teachers from diverse professional backgrounds. In Hong Kong’s unique environment where Chinese and Western cultures converge, the diverse perspectives and rich academic activities broadened my international outlook, deepened my understanding of different education systems, and helped me establish the ambitious goal of pursuing doctoral studies.
Throughout my learning journey, the interaction between theory and practice created many opportunities for me to step beyond my comfort zone. One of the most memorable challenges occurred during a group presentation. Due to an unexpected situation, one of our group members was unable to attend, and I had to coordinate the team’s content at short notice and complete the presentation independently. Faced with this sudden challenge, I quickly applied the leadership knowledge I had learned in class to restructure the presentation framework. At the same time, I coordinated with my teammates online to complete the poster and script. In the end, I successfully integrated diverse perspectives, led the group through the crisis, and achieved the highest score.
This hands-on experience of remaining composed under pressure not only demonstrated my ability in team coordination and crisis management but also became the best evidence of my leadership growth. For me, the milestone that best represents my learning achievement is the entrepreneurship plan I developed based on my own education enterprise. This project enabled me to systematically review the company’s operating model and development strategy. It not only helped promote business growth and increase revenue but also created a deep connection between academic theory and business practice. This learning journey, combining academic depth with practical breadth, has allowed me to plan my future career and academic pathway with greater clarity. It has also laid a solid foundation for my continued efforts to advance educational innovation and lead the field of education and academic progression consultancy in the future.
