With thirteen years of experience in education, I have accompanied learners of different age groups through their growth. From youth arts education to senior education, I have seen how knowledge transforms a person, and how values influence an individual’s choices and life direction.

The experience accumulated over these years has made me increasingly attentive to the deeper questions behind education: What can education truly bring to learners? Beyond ability and knowledge, what else is worth leaving behind? Bringing these reflections with me, returning to campus became an opportunity to pause. I began to reorganize my years of educational experience, looking back at the students I once accompanied and the educational philosophies I have always upheld.

During this process, I gradually discovered that what I have always cared about is never just what to teach, but how to influence a person’s growth through education. This re-evaluation and reflection have made me even more steadfast in my original calling to dedicate myself to educational work.

To understand how Chinese values can genuinely integrate into educational practice, I did not rush to find ready-made answers. Instead, I reopened the educational journals, activity photos, and award records I had kept over the years. I also visited senior educators once again and engaged in discussions with classmates from different fields.

Through cycles of review and organization, I re-examined my own educational journey. The teaching experiences, activity designs, and student interactions that were once scattered across different stages gradually connected into a more complete framework. I slowly realized that values-based education has actually never left my educational work. Whether in the process of accompanying students as they grow, the moments of encouraging them to break through their limits, or the considerations behind every educational choice, all embody the guidance and transmission of values.

This journey of looking back has given me a deeper understanding of values-based education. It has also allowed me to rethink my teaching and practice from the very essence of education, further confirming that what truly influences people is often not knowledge itself, but the beliefs and values established during their growth.
